Puppy Center Learning Lab

Find out what it takes to raise and train a canine hero.

The Learning Lab at Guide Dogs for the Blind’s new Puppy Center provides a window into how a team breeds, socializes, raises, and trains guide dogs. The Lab features views into the puppy socialization area and a “real life” room where puppies get to experience a home-like environment. The exhibit is designed for maximum protection for the puppies while also allowing great visibility for the visitors.

Other exhibits in the Lab describe how the puppies are raise and trained, and the special partnership they create with their handlers. The exhibits are designed with enhanced accessibility features such as high-contrast graphics with audio descriptions, Braille, AV captioning, and touch models of the puppies at different stages of development.

The Learning Lab was conceived and design by West Office in collaboration with Guide Dogs for the Blind. The building was designed by Dreyfus + Blackford. The exhibits were fabricated by Cinnabar. The media was produced by Guide Dogs for the Blind.
